Experience Tuscany as it might have been some thirty years back in a beautiful romantic medieval village located in a wildlife reserve half way between the Monte Amiata and the hot springs of Saturnia

Roccalbegna is a small Tuscan village dating back to the 9th century, located in the Maremma countryside adjacent to the stream of Albegna, halfway between Siena and the sea. The town has been built around a fortified castle and played a strategic role for trade and travel between Siena and the Mediterranean Sea. In Roccalbegna one breathes in the charming, romantic atmosphere of the past. It is an ideal location for excursions to the many Etruscan sites nearby, such as Sovana, Sorano, Pitigliano as well as to the hot springs of Saturnia. Roccalbegna offers all daily life amenities like groceries, butcher, restaurants and pharmacy.
Beside the cultural and gastronomic attractions of the area there are many nature related activities to be enjoyed ranging from hikes to mountainbike-tours and horse-riding. The nearby wildlife reserve "Bosco Rocconi" offers guided tours through the river-valley.

The house is situated in the outskirts of the village in a building that was previously used as a barn with stables. It has been recently renovated and transformed into a comfortable and romantic home. It features typical traditional local materials such as handmade terracotta tile floors, wooden ceilings and marble bathrooms.

The house's living space of 70 sqm is distributed on two levels: on the ground floor there is a large living room with dining table and sofa and in the kitchen an open fire place to barbecue. Furthermore there is a small bathroom and a pantry with a laundry machine. By a wide staircase one reaches the first floor where there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower.
From the front porch you enjoy a wonderful view of the valley; here you can dine, relax in the sun or admire the starry night skies.

The house can accomodate up to four persons; it's ideal for those who appreciate staying admidst nature in an authentic Tuscan atmosphere. During fresh spring and autumn days an efficient and easy to handle wood stove provides pleasant warmth; furthermore the bathroom is equipped with an electric radiator.
